1. Optigreen PE root resistant sheet
    (if required)
Green roof
a) Green roof The roof area must be swept clean; take particular care to remove any sharp objects.
b) Green roof Spread out the Optigreen root resistant sheet over the entire roof and allow the surplus to hang evenly over each edge of the roof.
c) Green roof If more than one sheet is required make sure the sheets overlap by 1.5 m.
d) Green roof If the Optigreen root resistant sheet is larger than the roof surface, cut off the excess around the edges so that they rest against the upstand and can be tucked under the upstand flashing where possible.
e) Green roof Unobstructed roof outlet/emergency overflow: when you have laid the Opti-green root resistant sheet on the roof, cut an opening the same size as the outlet over the roof outlet point.

Structural conditions:
Green roof
a) Green roof The roof construction (roof pitch 0-5°) must be able to bear an additional load of approx. 100 kg/m2.
b) Green roof The roof must be waterproof. The Opti-green PE root resistant sheet is not for waterproofing roofs; it is only for protection against roots.
c) Green roof The installation of root resistant water-proofing by a roofer (in accordance with FLL guidelines) is imperative if the room beneath the roof is used as living space or for storing valuable objects.

Important notes for your safety:
Green roof
a) Green roof Please remember: Refer to current health and safety legislation when work at heights above 1 metre. Current guide- lines can be sourced from your local authority.
b) Green roof Remove any obstacles you could trip over.
c) Green roof Firmly secure access aids (e. g. ladders).
d) Green roof Take special care when working with waterproofing and root resistant materials. Avoiding damage is imperative.

2. Optigreen protective fleece
    RMS 300
Green roof
a) Green roof Lay the Optigreen protective fleece starting from one side of the roof, overlapping each swath by 10 cm.
b) Green roof It should overlap the roof by approx. 100 mm.
c) Green roof Cut the overlap to the same size as the Optigreen root resistant sheet and secure to the upstand in the same manner.
d) Green roof When you have laid the Optigreen protective fleece on the roof, cut an opening the same size as the outlet over the roof outlet point.

3. Optigreen drainage system type
    FKD 25
Green roof
a) Green roof Lay the Optigreen drainage panels one by one with a few millimeters overlap starting on one side of the roof. The upper side of the panel is indicated by the drainage slits and the print mark.
b) Green roof Unobstructed roof outlet/emergency overflow: when you have installed the Optigreen drainage system on the roof, cut an opening the same size as the outlet over the roof outlet point.

4. Optigreen filter fleece Type 105
Green roof
a) Green roof Spread out the Optigreen filter fleece on the Optigreen drainage panels and pull taut. Multiple fleeces should overlap by approx. 100 mm.
b) Green roof Unobstructed roof outlet/emergency overflow: when you have laid the Optigreen filter fleece on the roof, cut an opening the same size as the outlet over the roof outlet point.

5. Optigreen control shaft
Green roof
Place the Optigreen control shaft over the roof outlet opening. The cover can be removed for maintenance purposes by loosening the two screws.
  Green roof
Gravel strip:
Green roof
a) Green roof Gravel strips free of plants should be laid around the control shaft and along the roof edges using 16-22 or 16-32 mm gravel.
b) Green roof Strip width: 300-500 mm.

6. Optigreen extensive substrate
    type E
Green roof
a) Green roof Distribute the sacks of substrate evenly over the roof. Cut open the sacks, tip out the substrate and spread roughly.
b) Green roof Spreading Optigreen substrate type E: rake the Optigreen substrate evenly over the roof surface to create a level surface.
c) Green roof Layer height: approximately 60-80 mm.
d) Green roof If there is more substrate than required it can be used to form rises or generally

increase the layer height. Do not exceed the maximum roof load. Every 10 mm of Optigreen extensive substrate weighs approx. 13 kg/m2.
e) Green roof Trimming the Optigreen filter fleece: once you have laid the gravel strips and the Optigreen extensive substrate, trim the Optigreen filter fleece around the roof edges to just above the top of the gravel or substrate layer.

8. Watering and completion care
Green roof
a) Green roof Sedum shoots and seed mix must be watered immediately after sowing.
b) Green roof Water the roof until the entire build-up is moist and water runs down the outlet.
c) Green roof The substrate must be kept permanently moist during the germinating and rooting phase (approx. 3 weeks).
d) Green roof Watering is then only required during long dry spells.
