Green Roof Specialist Optigreen became part of "Delivering the Dream" for Sustainable Rainwater Management by co-holding last month's second Conference at the Tower of London.
Over 130 attendees who are the keys to turning ideas and practical aspects of sustainability into Water Management and Building Envelope Solutions came together to exchange ideas and discuss new solutions at this event on 20th October
Delegates from the fields of architecture, administration and industry assessed Green Roofs as a crucial element in rain water management.
Every roof surface enhances water runoff, which means an increase in stormwater release. This leads inevitably to a wide range of impacts, including overflow of sewer systems and flooding, damage to streams and lakes and negative changes to the local microclimate including poor air quality and higher temperatures.
The panelists discussed the integration of Green Roofs in relation to sustainable water management strategies such as recycling and reuse techniques, biofiltration systems and infiltration devices.
Optigreen Managing Director Stefan Zeller said:"The Optigreen design approach is based on time-tested principles of engineering and horticulture and is inherently flexible and responsive to project conditions. This is important where variation in local climatic conditions require innovative solutions. The Conference addressed a number of important issues. Events like this are an excellent opportunity to exchange new ideas."
